According to the mayor of Neringa, this was more actively discussed during the reign of Gediminas Kirkilas. The construction of indoor tennis courts was also planned in the Curonian Spit National Park Management Plan in 2012.

“So, in a decade we managed to take over the land. This is how everything goes on in the Curonian Spit – I would say, quite quickly. The National Land Service has indicated that the cards must be built by the municipality. We will try to talk about whether the right is undisputed here or whether we can call for a competition. It is estimated that such cards would cost about 3 million. euros. The budget of our municipality, which amounts to about 10 mln. this is a huge amount. Almost a third of the annual budget. So we will try to find out whether such cards can be built by businesses, because they have shown initiatives a little earlier, ”said the mayor of Neringa.
