Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that he had issued instructions to coordinate with the founder of the American companies, “SpaceX” and “Tesla”, Elon Musk, to open the doors of technological cooperation with Turkey.
Erdogan added, in statements after Friday prayers in Istanbul, that he discussed with Musk in a phone call, Thursday, “the possibilities of joint work, and to follow up on this, one of them will be in constant contact with Elon Mask,” according to Anadolu Agency.
The Turkish president explained that he met with Musk in 2017 at the Presidential Complex in Ankara, and that they cooperated with him on issues related to space research, referring to the launch of “SpaceX” of the seventh Turkish satellite “Turksat 5A” into orbit, on January 8th.
Erdogan quoted Musk, who ascended to the throne of the richest man in the world on January 1, as saying: “I work a lot, and when I work a lot I win.”
Erdogan also expressed his feeling of hope for the recent decrease in the number of deaths due to the Corona virus in Turkey, saying, “There are negative developments related to the new surge of the Corona virus across the world, but I am confident that we will overcome it.”
A few days ago, Turkey launched a locally developed satellite into space with a successful missile by the American company “SpaceX”, owned by Mask.
The satellite was designed by the “Aselsan” company for military and electronic industries, and assembled by Istanbul Technical University.
