Gershon Kranczer, a Brooklyn (NYC) resident who fled to Israel in 2010 amid allegations of abuse of two underage relatives, was extradited to the US on Thursday..
Kranczer, now 65, was indicted in Brooklyn Supreme Court for the alleged sexual assault of two female relatives, the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office announced.
The alleged assailant is accused of sexually abusing a family member several times from August 1996 to February 2003, prosecutors said. At the beginning of the alleged attack, the victim was 6 years old. It is also alleged that Kranczer sexually abused another 11-year-old relative between March 2001 and September 2002.
In 2010, while under investigation, he traveled to Israel in an alleged attempt to escape the law, prosecutors said. The NYPD alerted Interpol of your departure.
After spending more than a decade abroad under an alias, authorities captured Kranczer in February 2020. U.S. Marshals, the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office and the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Office of International Affairs were also involved in the capture.
Kranczer fought against extradition to the United States for more than a year. After losing his final appeal, he was brought back last week, reported New York Post.
