– We still know nothing about how this has happened, says operations manager Ulf Slettan to NRK.
One person has been sent to Nordland Hospital by rescue helicopter. The condition is currently unknown.
No wreckage, overturned boats, or the like have been found in the vicinity.
The search operation ends as the police do not think there are more people in the water.
– We think the person was alone, Slettan says.
Extensive search operation
An extensive search operation was underway with a rescue helicopter, lifeboat, divers and civilian boats on Sunday morning, 12 September.
– We received a message about a person in the water just after 10 o’clock today. We have picked up one who was sent to hospital by rescue helicopter, said rescue leader in the Main Rescue Center Northern Norway, Tomas Ringen to NRK.
The emergency services continued the search for more people.
– We have gone out with mayday to boats nearby. We are looking for a rescue helicopter and lifeboat, Ringen said.
It was long uncertain whether there were more people in the water.
