The accident happened around 7:30 p.m., in an already dark night and freezing cold. A 90-year-old man was run over by a car in rue des Barthes in Anglet, between Place Quintaou and the shopping area. Transported by firefighters in very serious condition, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital from the Basque coast to Bayonne.
Slight drunkenness
The driver, a 32-year-old man, was in shock. The the usual blood alcohol test was found to be slightly higher to the authorized limit (0.5g / liter of blood or 0.25mg / liter of exhaled air). Left free, he should be heard again in the coming days by investigators and could be prosecuted.
