a pedestrian dies, mown down by a car, in Lormont

Police officers from the East Division have been investigated to determine the circumstances of the tragedy

He did not survive his injuries. An 84-year-old Lormontais died Friday, April 23, 2021 in the afternoon in the emergency room where he had been transported at the end of the morning. The octogenarian was the victim of a traffic accident, which occurred around 11:40 am in front of 51 avenue de la Liberation, near the Iris tram stop, in Lormont (Gironde).

He was crossing on the pedestrian crossing serving the access to the tram when he was suddenly struck by a car which stopped a few meters after the impact, visible on the ground as well as on the hood and the windshield. Seriously injured, he was taken to the emergency room by the firefighters.

In shock, the driver, an 83-year-old Lormontais, was heard by the police as part of their investigations. The prosecution will decide on the follow-up to be given to the procedure.
