a passionate amateur singer ready to conquer the stage

At 56, Tony Doyon, sales manager at Beauce Mitsubishi, has taken on the somewhat crazy challenge of creating his own singing show. Passionate about music since he was young, the Saint-Georges native will see his dream come true on October 4 and 5.

Indeed, Tony Doyon will perform at the Amants de la Scène de Saint-Georges cabaret in front of an already captivated audience, given that both evenings are now sold out.

« I’ve been singing for a really long time and I don’t even remember when I started. I did a lot of choir and I took organ lessons. It was actually my organ teacher, who was my neighbor, who gave me my first solo experience after hearing me sing. I had done a show where I played the organ and sang on stage. “, said Tony Doyon.

« What’s funny is that the first time I sang with my teacher, when I was 11 or 12, it was at the Amants de la Scène cabaret in Saint-Georges. And now I’m going back there to do my first show, so it’s like the circle has come full circle. ».

Even though it was a dream, the sales manager never thought he would actually be able to put on a show in front of an audience of nearly 500 people.

« The most curious thing is that I never thought I would do my first solo show. What happened is that I had been taking singing lessons for three years with Hélène Ouellet, and a few months after my debut, she told me that I had to produce a solo show. In my head, I thought I was too old and I didn’t really know if it was my place. Finally, with the encouragement of several other people, I took the plunge. “, said Tony Doyon.

In the end, the amateur singer will move into the big leagues by doing his first show. For this unique moment, he will be accompanied by four musicians and two backing singers and will donate the profits to an organization.

« On October 4 and 5, I will therefore offer a show entirely in French, with only male singers. Then, since I am a generous person who likes to give to people, I will donate all the profits from the show to Parcours Alpha Beauce-Sartigan. I decided to donate to this organization because my involvement with the church is strong. ».

From Jacques Brel to Garou, via Roch Voisine and Mario Pelchat, Tony Doyon will offer popular songs to his audience for this first show.

« I really like singers with voices and singing in French, so I only wanted songs by French-speaking singers. They are all well-known songs, except one, “Dessine-moi”, which also gave its name to my show. ” he concluded.

Those who would have liked to attend can still contact Tony Doyon at 418-230-3176, but both evenings are already sold out on the official ticket office.
