A serious train accident occurred on Saturday evening in Romania. At the railway station in Galati, the locomotive crashed at full speed into a multi-storey passenger car, which was waiting for the train to be formed.
As a result of the incident, one person died, three more were taken to the hospital, according to digi24.ro. The car was severely deformed and rolled about 80 meters. At the time of the accident, there was a train crew in it, consisting of a conductor, a train driver and two more people.
After examining the scene, police officers found that the locomotive’s speedometer was stuck at 75 km/h. The driver said that the train suddenly accelerated. He applied emergency braking, but the system did not work.
According to preliminary data, brake failure became the cause of the collision. A criminal case has been opened, an investigation is underway.
Another traffic accident happened on the morning of March 26 in Suceava County. On the highway DN2-E85, a diesel fuel tanker registered in Ukraine overturned. The second tanker, filled with water, which arrived to extinguish the first one, also overturned. No one was injured in the accident, but traffic was blocked.
A military fire brigade arrived on the scene with a rescue vehicle, a fire truck and an ambulance.
