A passenger bus crashed near Svilengrad, one person died, there were injuries – Criminal

A serious accident with a passenger bus occurred between Svilengrad and Topolovgrad in the area of ​​the village of Mladinovo, the Interior Ministry said. The road accident was reported to 112 shortly after 18:00.

According to preliminary information, on the II-55 Nova Zagora – Haskovo road /between the villages of Dripchevo and Mladinovo/ – in the territory of the Haskovo district, a passenger bus with Burgas registration plates, in which 40 passengers were traveling, fell into a ravine on side of the road.

According to initial data, the bus was registered in Burgas and was carrying people on excursions. They were returning from Greece to Burgas.

Emergency crews, police and firefighters from Haskovo, Harmanli and Svilengrad were immediately dispatched to the scene of the accident. There is information about one dead and 19 injured. There are no life-threatening injuries among the wounded.

Four children were also traveling on the bus. Fortunately they weren’t injured.

Thanks to the immediate intervention of the police, all the passengers were promptly removed, some were transported to hospitals, others were subjected to site inspections and hospitalization was organized for them. The driver’s alcohol test was negative, she explained to the uniformed officers that the bus overturned on a bend.

The reasons for the accident are clarified.

The people rescued from the bus are sheltered in the Mladinovo Town Hall building.
