Valdepeñas commemorates this October 10, Mental Health Day, with a painting exhibition at the Reading Point located on Avenida 1º de Julio, carried out by a dozen users of the Ciudad Real Mental Health Association (Apafes). ), in order to give visibility to this group.
The Councilor for Social Services, María del Mar Marqués, has stressed that “it seems unbelievable that in 2024 mental illnesses seem to still be a little relegated, and that people do not dare to say anything and continue to hide. Apafes, from their association in Valdepeñas, put these people in front of them to say that they have a life project, that they have a future and that they are as valid as any other person, supporting a disease that on many occasions people do not understand.”
Marqués recalled that on the occasion of the commemoration of this day, the corporeal letters of Valdepeñas, which are located on the Canal, will light up green, an international symbol of mental health awareness.
The exhibition, made up of 63 paintings, is available to the public for the acquisition of works in support of the collective.
