Sources at Al-Arabiya.net reported that a loose camel collided with an Elantra vehicle, carrying 5 youths, crashing it into the Red Road 30km west of Al-Aflaj, killing them all.

The incident sparked widespread outrage, with many Twitter users criticizing leaving camels loose on the roads.

They also sent warning letters to the owner of the camel that caused the deaths of 5 young men, asking that he be held responsible.

While the hashtags # Al-Ahmar_Al-Aflaj and # Al-Rusan_road_tragic are at the top of the trend on Twitter, through which activists have mourned the deceased.

They published pictures of the accident and of the young people, inviting the competent authorities to take urgent action to put an end to the danger of that road due to its narrowness and the large number of trucks on it, as well as to control its speed.

fines and penalties

It is interesting to note that the people of the area have demanded the completion of the lighting of the rest of the road. The efforts of the municipality of Al-Ahmar have led to the completion of much of it, leaving only about 30 km of it.

In turn, the General Directorate of Traffic warned the owners of the animals, asking for them to be removed from the fences of the authorized road, noting that the violation of this will result in a fine of 10,000 riyals.

He also posted a tweet through his official Twitter account, in which he obliged pet owners to keep them away from the checkpoint in order to keep everyone safe.

The traffic violation table included an explanatory paragraph regarding the penalty for offenders for removing animals from the street, as the fine ranges from 5,000 riyals to 10,000 riyals.

It is interesting to note that the seriousness of this road lies in the fact that it is lonely: the camels in bulk take it as a corridor for them near their barns and cross it north and south to graze in the rocks of Wadi al-Ahmar.
