“The area is full of forests and in the summer the villagers are used to sleeping on mats outside in the air where it is cooler. They become an easy target for wolves,” said Akash Deep Badhawan of the forest department there.
Drones with cameras and thermal imaging software were used to track the trio of wolf killers. Thanks to this, it was possible to catch one, the other two are being sought. “The forest department has deployed several teams to find them but it is not easy to catch this wild animal,” Badhawan told the website khaleejtimes.com.
Speakers and searchlights were installed in the area to scare the animals. “We have advised the villagers not to sleep outside,” said Badhawan.
“We plan to use elephant dung and urine to keep the wolf pack away from residential areas,” he said, adding that wolves usually live in packs of six to ten and avoiding areas where large animals such as elephants live.
Although attacks by leopards or tigers are common in India, the situation with wolves is very unusual.
