The first case of death of a child due to Covid-19 complications has been registered in Lithuania, reports lsm.lv.
The child was taken to hospital on 31 August, where he was diagnosed with laryngitis and treated at home. It was only later that it was discovered that the child was not only infected with the coronavirus, but that it was later the main cause of his death. Until now, the youngest victim of Covid-19 in Lithuania was registered in the age group of 20 to 29 years.
A further 828 people have been confirmed with coronavirus infection in Lithuania last day, and the disease caused by the virus, Covid-19, has claimed 11 lives, the Department of Statistics said on Monday.
The proportion of 5411 analyzes performed last day and the proportion of positive tests was 15.3%. A total of 6,624,596 analyzes were performed in Lithuania.

According to the Department of Statistics, the 14-day cumulative number of infections per 100,000 population in Lithuania has increased to 835.3.
A total of 1,890,014 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in Lithuania, including 1,364,279 people who have been vaccinated. 439,672 people were vaccinated.
