Mushrooms will help fill the lack of vitamin D. This conclusion was reached by scientists from the UK and Ireland, reports The Voice with reference to nutritionist Rob Hobson.
Mushrooms contain a compound called ergosterol, which is converted to vitamin D when exposed to sunlight. This product is also recognized as one of the most popular meat substitutes.
Eight mushrooms per day are sufficient to meet the RDA. D helps to strengthen the immune system and is essential during cold and flu season.
