The Deux-Érables school targeted
A class should be closed at the next school year at the Deux-Erables nursery school.
A meeting on the situation of the two nursery schools (Quatre-Vents and Deux-Erables) was held under the chairmanship of the mayor, in the presence of the Inspector of National Education (Moulins II), representatives of the parents of ‘pupils, teachers, elected officials and DDEN (departmental representatives of National Education).
The finding appeared worrying. School enrollment in Varennes, and in particular in kindergartens, has been structurally declining for several years.
As it stands, there are 75 kindergarten students for five classes, or 15 students per class, which, for the next school year, is unthinkable according to the National Education which uses the departmental average, 21 or 22 students. , or even 25 per class. Also, removing a class would bring the number of students per class to just over 18.
On the other hand, if such a solution were to prove to be final, the problem of the distribution key for pupils between the two kindergartens would be raised. A distribution that would be made on the basis of previously defined criteria, which, at first glance, would not be geographic, but would relate to age. A method that raises serious concerns.
Thus, the pupils of very small section, small section and the youngest of middle section would be directed to the school of Quatre-Vents. And the older ones of medium and large section, towards that of Deux-Érables. Schedule adjustments would be provided for parents concerned by the two establishments.

still frozen
Parents of students were particularly cautious. Considering their limited willingness to accept the situation as presented to them, it was made clear to them that nothing was set in stone.
The National Education Inspector said to remain vigilant and that if he observes an upward trend in enrollment, he could review his copy.
