Is there any finger of fate?
A forest fire broke out shortly before noon in the area of Mount Kalin in Rila. The fire started near the dam of the same name “Kalin”, at about 2400 m above sea level in the “Rila Monastery” nature park. Due to the fire, the road from the village of Pastra to the “Chala” hut under the dam is closed, BNR reported.
The fire department in the city of Rila said that there are teams sent, but the terrain is difficult to access. Most likely, lightning caused the fire of a tree or dry grasses, as was the case on Friday morning.
However, at that moment, an emergency group of the “Granatoid” company, which maintains the facilities on the dam, was passing by and there was no fire. For now, the fire is kilometers away from the Rila monastery itself, which today celebrates the feast of its patron Saint John of Rila.
Today, August 18, the Orthodox community solemnly commemorates the Assumption of St. John of Rila the Miracle Worker, one of the most revered Bulgarian saints and patron of the Bulgarian people. The event takes place in the Rila Holy Monastery, founded by the saint himself, and traditionally attracts hundreds of believers from different parts of the country.
