A night of terror in Gaza… destruction, great losses, and escalation in the West Bank
The residents of the Gaza Strip lived a night of terror during which the Israeli raids, which were described as the most violent on the Strip since the beginning of the war three weeks ago, did not stop. The bombing left dozens of victims and people missing under the rubble, in addition to the total destruction of hundreds of buildings in the Strip.
The Israeli army said today (Saturday) that it advanced in areas in the northern Gaza Strip, expanding the scope of its ground operation, during which it killed the air force official and the naval force official in the Hamas-affiliated Al-Qassam Brigades, and also attacked Hezbollah positions in South Lebanon, while it is on alert in the West Bank and working actively.
Army spokesman Daniel Hagari confirmed that the army had advanced in the stages of the war, adding: “Army forces entered the northern region of the Gaza Strip and expanded the scope of ground operations. Infantry, armor, engineering and artillery forces participate in this operation, and it is accompanied by intense gunfire.”
According to Hagari, the forces that entered the Gaza Strip during the night are still in their positions. He continued: “Expanding operations serves all the objectives of the war at this time. The army conducts a continuous assessment of the situation and moves forward in line with the stages of fighting. It also continues to launch intensive and large-scale attacks by air and sea, in addition to continuing operations to eliminate terrorists.
Hagari announced that the army assassinated the head of the Hamas Air Force, Issam Abu Rukba, and the commander of the Naval Force, Rateb Abu Suhaiban, who were at the head of the planners of the October 7 attack and several other attacks.
According to him, the army destroyed 150 Hamas underground targets, observation points, anti-tank launching sites, and military facilities.
Israel expanded its attack on Friday evening, but after it completely cut off communications and the Internet from the Gaza Strip, putting it in complete isolation, and as a result, there was an absence of information about the Strip.
The Al-Qassam Brigades announced that it was confronting the Israeli incursion, but its statements were absent after that, and Hamas was forced abroad to issue a statement that the Israeli army storming Gaza fell into ambushes and suffered tank and human losses.
Israel prepared for the ground entry with unprecedented bombing of the Gaza Strip, leaving dozens of victims.
The Ministry of Health did not issue any figures due to the cutting off of communications and the Internet, and the Palestinians were forced to transport their victims in private cars. The official news agency announced that citizens recovered at least 45 bodies in the Al-Shati neighborhood and 25 in the center of the Strip.
The Gaza Civil Defense said in a brief statement that the Israeli strikes completely destroyed hundreds of buildings throughout the Strip during the night.
In addition to Gaza, the army announced that it had bombed Hezbollah military infrastructure in Lebanon. This came after the party announced (Thursday) that it had targeted Israeli military sites.
Later today, Israeli Army Radio announced that air defenses intercepted a surface-to-air missile launched from Lebanon towards the Upper Galilee, and began attacking the source of the launch.
In the West Bank, Israel carried out a massive arrest campaign and demolished the home of prisoner Bagis Nakhleh from the Jalazoun camp. Israel accuses him of being a Hamas financial official in the West Bank.
The Ministry of Health in the West Bank announced today that Bilal Muhammad Saleh (40 years old) died from a bullet in the chest fired at him by a settler in the town of Al-Sawiya in the Nablus district.
