The pet dog of a New York family is credited with saving all four of his members from a fire when their house caught fire on Christmas Eve.

New York authorities said the blaze started at 2:00 a.m. on Christmas Eve at Barry Lane’s home in Bardonia.

The dog scratched one of the bedroom doors, alerting the entire family just in time to escape the flames, according to a GoFundMe account set up to offer help to relatives.

All of the people sleeping inside the Rockland County home at the time and the family’s two dogs were not injured as they escaped, the statement said. Nbc New York.

Firefighters who rushed to the scene managed to put out the fire, but not before the fire had already spread to the attic and ceiling.

The New York Police Department has revealed that the house has been declared uninhabitable.

The possible cause of the fire has not been disclosed at this time.
