The Saudi national team said the player, Yasser Al-Shahrani, had left hospital after more than one operation after suffering a severe blow in his team’s first match at the World Cup in Qatar.
Al-Shahrani was seriously injured during the closing minutes of Saudi Arabia’s match against Argentina, after he collided with his team’s goalkeeper, Muhammad Al-Owais, to leave the stadium, and Muhammad Al-Buraik attended the his place in the 98th minute of the match.
On Sunday, the player underwent the second phase of the surgery, performing facial bone surgery by the specialist medical team in King Abdulaziz Medical City of the Riyadh National Guard, with follow-up by the team medical team .
The green team’s official account stated at the time that “al-Shahrani performed the first stage of surgery with a pancreatic operation last Wednesday”, announcing that “the surgeries for the two stages were successful”.
And the national team confirmed, in a tweet on Wednesday, that “after confirming the stability of Al-Shahrani’s condition and following him up with the national team’s medical staff, it was decided that he would return home for his daily medical checkup.”

For his part, journalist and sportscaster Fahd Al-Dous said on Twitter: “You are alone, O kidnapper of hearts. The national team has lost you, and our hearts have not lost you, who pray to God to hasten your recovery and go back to the stadiums.” He attached this tweet with a video of Al-Shahrani thanking the medical personnel who followed up on his condition.

After his injury, Al-Shahrani made appearances from Hamad Medical City, before being transferred to Saudi Arabia, after the tough clash with his teammate, Al-Akhdar goalkeeper Muhammad Al-Owais, and reassured the audience on his health, congratulating the Saudi team for winning the match against Argentina.

And on Wednesday, Mexico scored two goals in five minutes early in the second half to beat Saudi Arabia 2-1, but the two teams were eliminated from the group stage of the FIFA World Cup together.
In-form goalkeeper Mohammed Al Owais denied Mexico a goal in the first half, but was unable to stop Henry Martin scoring a corner kick three minutes after the break.
And Luis Chavez doubled his lead with a perfect free kick after just five minutes, frustrating the fans of the Arab team.
And Salem Al-Dosari closed the gap for Saudi Arabia in stoppage time, reaching his third goal in his participation in the World Cup.
