The Pokémon Company has officially announced that a new app of the Pokémon card game will come to both PC and mobile that will allow you to collect the cards obtained in real life and compete with other players online.
The name of this new app will be Pokémon TCG Live and it will replace the current adaptation of the card game that came out in 2012 under the name Pokémon TCG Online. This news comes at a time when the old app hadn’t received a significant update or redesign in years.
Like its predecessor, Pokémon TCG Live will allow players to obtain digital versions of your physical cards and decks after scanning the QR codes included in the packages. In addition, they will also allow players to battle each other through online connections and using the official rules of the card game.
The biggest change that comes with this new app is the possibility of downloading it on cell phones, an option that was previously impossible, since the old program was only available on PCs and tablets, which is why several players would not have had the opportunity to try this software.
The company explained that this is an opportunity for them to finally new users can try the card game in its digital format, while veterans can also learn about a redesigned and improved system to follow their battles online.
Regarding the players of the old version of the application, the company announced that they will have the option to transfer your previous account details to the new program, so they will be able to keep cards and decks under certain restrictions. The only cards that will be available to play will be those that came out after the Lost Thunder season released in 2018, although the rest are expected to be available with future updates.
One detail in particular that will be lost in this new app is the ability to transfer letters with other players within the platform, a method by which multiple users could get virtual cards that they could not otherwise. The only way to get letters will be through the QR codes of physical packages or using the currency of the application to buy digital packages.
Pokémon TCG Live will initially launch for select regions like Canada and a beta is expected to be available for everyone in the coming weeks, with its predecessor being removed from digital stores ahead of the new launch.
