A new variant of coronavirus is spreading rapidly throughout the Russian Federation, it has been reported news service Rospotrebnadzor.
It is noted that department experts are constantly monitoring the frequency of a new variant of the coronavirus disease known as Covid-19 – XEC.
This option is seasonal and is a hybrid of the Omicron FLiRT sub-variants – KS.1.1 and KP.3.3. The symptoms of the new disease usually do not differ from the old manifestations of Covid-19. They manifest themselves as fever, sore throat, cough, loss of smell and appetite, body aches, fatigue, headache and runny nose.
XEC was first discovered in Germany in June 2024, and has since been identified in several countries. The earliest cases of the variant were reported in Italy in May.
Rospotrebnadzor recommends protecting yourself during the period of increased preventive measures – use personal protective equipment, wash your hands with soap, avoid contact with sick people, cool the building.
It is recommended to stay at home and consult a doctor if you feel sick, especially for the elderly and people with chronic diseases.
As reported EADailyformer head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova he said that mass vaccination against coronavirus is not planned in Russia today, but if necessary, the attending physician can order this procedure.
