A new train station away from the old one – Gutach im Breisgau

THAT WAS 2021: The Gutach community is the location for an essential element of the Elztalbahn / research project at school.

(sre, dsc). If one were to calculate for the municipality of Gutach what funds per capita were spent on construction work, the municipality would certainly be the front runner in the Elztal. The reason for this was, among other things, the construction work at the crossing station, several bridges and at the Elzpegel.

Crossing station

The crossing station should enable the Elztalbahn to run every half hour to Elzach. That he cannot do it alone has been known since the railroad started operating again in December and the problems in Denzlingen. But without a crossing station, a half-hourly service to Elzach would not work at all. During the construction work a little further away from the previous location, unusual challenges also had to be struggled with: the foundations of a bridge were under (ground) water. Divers had to get the material and mud out of places that the dredger could not reach. The Silberwaldbrücke and the bridge at Bleibach train station were also rebuilt. The municipality had to raise a total of 4.4 million euros for the bridge structures and the acquisition of land. In autumn, the municipal council also approved the conversion of the station square in Bleibach into a multimodal transport hub for trains, buses and cars.

new technologies
In 2021, Gutach was awarded the contract by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy for a research project that involves the energetic renovation of the Second Valley School in Gutach with a volume of almost three million euros. The project is to be implemented within four years. The goal is climate neutrality. Among other things, waste heat from the Elztal distillery Weis is used. Overall, it is planned that the community buildings will be operated in a climate-neutral manner by 2030. The community wants to get away from fossil fuels entirely. The street lamps in all parts of the town will be converted to LEDs.

Reschhof

The Reschhof in Siegelau, which was built in 1774 and is a listed building, is being converted to make it fit for the future. Apartments are to be built under the roof structure. A special program for the protection of monuments by the federal government and the Baden-Württemberg Monument Foundation are making available 90,000 euros each. It’s just a drop in the ocean, but still.

Rescue center
In the course of the year, construction work on the new rescue center next to the Bleibach recycling center made good progress. At the end of June, the shell of the fire department part was almost finished. When it came to awarding contracts, the municipality had to contend with sometimes violent and unexpected price increases. The completion of the entire building is planned for May 2022.

Elzpegel
The Freiburg regional council had the Elz in Gutach converted for around 700,000 euros in order to be able to better measure low water levels in the future. In addition, a rough channel was created for fish to climb up and down.

Talstraße
After the embankment was demolished as a result of a storm, the valley road in Siegelau had to be renewed and structurally modified for more stability.
