A new TikTok trend has gone too far. That’s what 16-year-old Slater Vance learned last week after he decided to give it a try with the help of his famous parents, actors Angela Bassett and Courtney B. Vance, reports NOVA.

The challenge involves users pranking their families on camera by pretending celebrities, usually their parents’ favorites, are dead. The trend has become increasingly popular during the holiday season as families have gathered and kids have flocked home for the holidays, with TikTok users taking the bluff.

As of Jan. 1, the hashtag “celebritydeathprank” has had over 174 million views on the app, with “deadcelebrityprank” nearly as many.
