State aid for businesses does not end on September 30 and continues in the form of a new scheme that aims to help businesses that are most in need. But according to some business leaders, it remains unclear for the moment.

Sports halls, cinemas, restaurants, or even amusement parks in great difficulty will benefit from a reprieve: the solidarity fund is extended until September 30 if necessary. On October 1, a new system comes into force. The aid will then be calculated on the basis of the company’s fixed costs. “If we cover our fixed costs, that’s already very good, we are not asking to earn money on aid, we are asking to be helped so as not to sink“, explains Didier Desert, master restaurateur.

Among these fixed costs; rent, fees, subscriptions to websites, to EDF and telephony, or even accounting. Aid will be calculated on a case-by-case basis. Each business manager will have to calculate the difference between his income and his expenses: this will be reimbursed by the State up to 90% for small businesses and 70% for others. The manager of a cinema which lost 50% of its turnover this summer is worried. For him, the device is still unclear. The government plans to take stock of this new system in early November.
