It only took a few centimeters of snow to block part of the A20 motorway, near Limoges (Haute-Vienne). Sunday, January 3 in the morning, for tens of kilometers, motorists had to move in step. In question: patches of ice. Thus, some holidaymakers did not hesitate to equip themselves. “We put the chains on, just to get back on the highway, because the road is very slippery there“, testifies one of them.
Others preferred to leave the main axes, but again, things get stuck. In Reims (Marne) too, or Challans (Vendée), snow has fallen all over France and has even been invited on the Atlantic coast, until it covers the beach of Saint-Jean-de-Monts ( Vendée) with a thin snowpack. Further north, near Lille, the Quiévrechain (North) teams are preparing the spreaders for the night: several centimeters of powder are expected.
