A new retail chain HalfPrice has entered the Czech Republic

According to Cushman & Wakefield, nine new retail brands entered the Czech Republic in the first half of this year, which is the most in the last three years.

The most significant was the arrival of the Irish Primark in a newly built building on the corner of Wenceslas Square and Opletalova Street in Prague. The Italian luxury brand Versace and the Slovak clothing brand Dedoles are also new in the clothing category in the Czech Republic. Among the new brands is Fielmann eye optics or the Cozy Home furniture and home accessories store.

The so-called offprice chain HalfPrice buys branded goods directly from manufacturers and offers them at lower prices. In addition to the Czech Republic, it operates in Poland, Austria and Hungary, and will appear in Croatia at the end of the year. In Poland, the brand debuted in May this year and has so far opened 27 stores in the local market. HalfPrice expanded to Austria and Hungary in August. The company wants to have 65 stores in Europe by the end of this year.

“The Czech Republic is particularly close to us, not only due to its geographical location, but also due to the long-term ties of the CCC group. It is an important market for us, where we have been operating for 17 years and where we are present with the CCC, eobuv.cz and Modivo offer, “said Adam Holewa, Chairman of the Board of HalfPrice.

“HalfPrice with a sales area of almost 1800 m2 is a major tenant for us. We believe that thanks to the great location, which we were able to offer at the entrance to the shopping center, the brand will attract new customers, “added Pavel Hradec, director of the Harfa Gallery.

The CCC footwear retail network operates in 29 countries. It has been on the Czech market since 2004, operating 89 stores here. CCC Czech reported a profit of approximately 42 million crowns in 2018, revenues amounted to 1.8 billion crowns. Recent financial results are not available. In addition to brick-and-mortar stores, Czechs can also shop online at ccc.eu, eobuv.cz, Modivo and DeeZee, which fall under the CCC group.
