“We are rediscovering the attraction of rurality as a breathing space, and rightly so, which means that many people escape for short stays from the metropolis to come to us”, confirms the one who is himself mayor of the town of Blasimon, in Entre-deux-Mers.

450 million euros for rural guests

The Association of Rural Mayors of France has just signed a new partnership with the online accommodation rental platform Airbnb to develop 15,000 new quality tourist accommodation in France by the end of 2021.

“We thought that Airbnb was a new way of consuming for tenants, but also a way of making themselves known for owners, and therefore of earning a little bit of money. And perhaps finally, in the long term, to promote installations in our villages tomorrow, ”explains Daniel Barbe.

In France, Airbnb estimates that rural hosts have earned 450 million euros since the start of the pandemic.
