The lengthy construction of the important road link between “Skobeleva Maika” and the Asenovgradsko Shosse roundabout, also called Plovdiv’s South-Eastern Ring Road, has been postponed again for project review. For its update, the Municipality of Plovdiv today announced a public procurement under the shortened procedure with an estimated value of BGN 24,432 excluding VAT. Bidding will open on December 12th.
“The rework is partial and I hope the designers will be ready within two to three weeks,” said Deputy Mayor of Construction Plamen Raichev. The project was prepared by “Progetto Path”, the same company will correct it, and the State, through API, undertook years ago to finance this section of the ring road. It closes Plovdiv’s outer ring and relieves traffic in the city.
The reason that led to the revision of the project is that the trench created by NKŽI for the modernization of the railway line coincides with the extension of the ring road in the area between Skobeleva Maika and Asenovgradsko Shose. “Several entities worked on their own projects, considering that the construction of a ring road collector is also planned in this area. So there was a discrepancy in the data, but it is easily rectified. We already had an interview with Deputy Minister Zahari Hristov, who expressed a desire for cooperation,” commented Plamen Raichev.
The route between Skobeleva Maika and Asenovgradsko Shose is designed with a width of 20 meters and an overpass above the railway line. The procedures for the public procurement with an estimated price of BGN 42 million were completed by the Road Infrastructure Agency already in the spring, the tender was appealed, but the ranking of the commission which chose “Trace Group Hold” was confirmed ” as a contractor. The company offered a lower price: BGN 34.5 million without VAT. In Plovdiv, “Trace” is building the tunnel to the central station.
“Everything is ready for the infrastructure project to start. Once the expropriation procedures have been completed, the API confirms its intention to finance this very important object. The project update will take place in a short period of time and I hope that the construction of the link road starts at the beginning of 2023,” believes Plamen Raichev.
A few years ago, when Raichev headed the Regional Road Administration in Plovdiv, the South-East Ring Road received the status of a national site by decision of the Cabinet of Ministers.
