The group has opened this new multimodal site in Port Edouard-Herriot, located in the town of Saint-Fons.
Last June, the Vicat group opened a new multi-activity and multimodal site in Port Edouard-Herriot, in the town of Saint-Fons. For the first time, the main areas of expertise of the Vicat group are brought together around a single location, namely aggregates, cement, concrete, transport (via the SATM brand) and the circular economy (neighboring Terenvie site) .
“The facilities feature unique innovations, in particular the concrete production unit which is now the Group’s largest in France. With this new site, the only French cement manufacturer is strengthening its territorial network in Lyon and confirming its position as a local local player ”, notes the cement manufacturer.
This unique platform brings together several professions. Anchored in its territories, the group offers solutions for local earthmoving and construction companies – natural and recycled aggregates, reception of inert cuttings – while taking care to minimize the environmental footprint of its activities. Within this new multi-activity platform located in the South of Lyon, the group has brought together the latest technologies available in order to guarantee the best expertise to its customers.
A site that meets the needs of the market
The Port Edouard Herriot site thus completes the existing system, making it possible to respond perfectly to the needs of the Lyon Metropolitan area market, particularly with aggregates. The platform accommodates inert earthy cuttings, all-comers from the worksite and offers natural and recycled aggregates for sale. The site should then expand with the creation of an area dedicated to non-inert, non-hazardous materials in transit.
Cement is also present on the site with four silos which can store high-end cements adapted to the technical requirements of the regional market, in particular for the To Lyon tower site, or the low-carbon cement CEM IV “Naturat” manufactured with natural pozzolanas from the region.
A concrete plant without any waste disposal
It should also be noted that the concrete batching plant, designed by the “Performance and Investments Department” of the group, is a unique installation, which brings together 2 mixers of 2.5 m³, 4 truck loading stations, 2 aggregate unloaders, 9 aggregate boxes. (total capacity: 1,200 tonnes), including 1 of recycled aggregates.
“The power station is equipped with an innovative water management system that eliminates waste disposal. 100% of these are recycled in the production of concrete ”, specifies the group. The power plant, whose production lines are fully doubled, will notably produce the new range of low-carbon DECA concrete for the south of Greater Lyon. Annual production will reach 80,000 m³.
“This multi-activity platform at Port Edouard Herriot embodies the synergy of the three main businesses of the Vicat group, allowing efficient delivery of finished products and rapid availability of new low-carbon Vicat products. The Cement and Aggregates teams can manage the stocks available in real time in line with the needs of the Concrete business ”, concludes Vicat.
