The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported on Friday that a new low-pressure area has been spotted outside of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). According to Pagasa, the LPA is located 1,620 kilometers east of southern Mindanao and has a slim chance of developing into a tropical depression. Pagasa weather forecaster Benison Estareja stated that by Monday the weather disturbance will likely be over east of Mindanao before it moves to the direction of Caraga region. From Tuesday until Thursday, the LPA is projected to pass through Eastern Visayas and the Bicol region before it crosses Central and Northern Luzon and exits towards the West Philippine Sea by Friday. Another scenario given by the Pagasa weatherman is that the LPA stays over Eastern Visayas before crossing east of Luzon from Tuesday to Thursday.
Over the next 24 hours, Pagasa stated that the ridge or extension of the high-pressure area will affect northern Luzon. Estareja said that this means there would be less chance of rain showers and thunderstorms in the area with hot and humid weather conditions prevailing. While there would be generally fair weather conditions over Metro Manila and the rest of the country, Pagasa informed the public that these areas may still experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms in late afternoon or at night.
