In Zaragoza, the Stellantis group celebrated the first 40 years of its factory there, which opened its doors in the fall of 1982 and started producing the Opel Corsa, a car that is still produced in that factory today. On the occasion of the celebrations, Stellantis confirmed the appearance of a new car for this production site, but did not say what it will be. However, it looks like this will be the new Lancia Ypsilon.
It has long been rumored that the production of the new Lancia Ypsilon could be entrusted to this plant, in which the car group does not hide its great confidence for the future. So far there are no official confirmations, only rumors. But now the factory management has admitted that production of the new car will start next year, so the chances of it being the famous Lancia subcompact are high.
After all, the times coincide, if we consider that the new Lancia Ypsilon should be launched in Italy in the first quarter of 2024, and the return throughout Europe – by mid-2024. The car will be very different from the current model. In fact, it will increase in size to almost 4 meters in length.
The car will also use the CMP platform and will also arrive on the market in an electric version. However, the range will not lack petrol and hybrid versions. With this car, Lancia will return to Europe and will seek to challenge its rivals in the premium segment of the automotive market equally. The car will have a more elegant and masculine design and will point to rivals such as Audi and Mini.
