A new James Bond game is finally in development

2020 was not an easy year to be a James Bond fan due to the repeated postponements of No Time To Die, but the news that work is being done on a full-fledged Bond game makes up for a lot.

The article “when will we get a new Bond game” was high on my list of articles I should write again for Gamerverse. That article can already be canceled, because IO Interactive is now announcing that they are working on a James Bond game!

And this time it’s not about a mobile game or some cheesy decoction of a movie (cough Quantum of Solace kuch). The happy news was announced in a teaser trailer from developer-publisher IO Interactive. The publisher is best known for the successful Hitman games, making it the ideal developer for a Bond game. The developer works with the film studios MGM and Eon Productions.

Not much is known about the game yet. It is known that it would be an origin story where Bond deserves his 00 status. IO Interactive is currently looking for employees to develop the game, so the project is definitely still early in the development phase. The game has the name for now Project 007 but this is a working title.

“Project 007 (working title) is a brand new James Bond video game being developed and published by IO Interactive,” reads the official website. “With an all-new Bond story, players will step into the shoes of the world’s favorite secret agent to earn 00 status in this first James Bond origin story. IO Interactive is currently recruiting talent from all over the world for the team that will develop this exciting and unique game. ”
