The Provincial Technical Agronomic Institute of the Albacete Council advances in its work of transferring knowledge to the agricultural sector and does so with a new technical conference on fertilization management, plant health and eco-regimes in woody crops.
Higueruela has hosted this meeting, inaugurated by the provincial vice president and CEO of ITAP, Amparo Torres, together with the mayoress of the town, Isabel Martínez; and the director of Banca Rural Globalcaja in Albacete, Rafael Mendoza. Some talks that the vice president of the Provincial Council (and mayor of the town), Fran Valera, has also attended.
More than fifty farmers, men and women farmers, technicians have participated in this training and information action in which issues of their greatest interest have been addressed, in line with the work that the ITAP has been carrying out through these conferences, for the which has the collaboration of JCCM and Globalcaja.
Thanking the mayoress of Higueruela for the interest and involvement that they have shown so that this activity reaches their territory, benefiting the professionals of the agricultural sector of this town and this region, Torres has alluded to the eco-regimes introduced in the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and has made it clear that the sector must adapt farms to the current context of climate emergency, but has not hesitated to affirm that environmental sustainability must go hand in hand with farm profitability.
In this sense, and highlighting the effort made by the Government of Spain in the negotiations of this new PAC, the provincial manager has assured that public administrations must work, “and there is the Provincial Council, so that not a single only euro that arrives for our field from the European Union”, adding that it is necessary to optimize each one of those euros “so that they remain in our territory, fix population and contribute to generate wealth in our farms favoring the professionalization of the sector, the generational relief and the incorporation of women”. In fact, she has assured that by doing so, she will also be contributing to the development of the rural world and facing the demographic challenge.
