Twitter is trying to get ahead of its competitors by launching a new feature. New ? Not that much !
Was Twitter inspired by Instagram? It’s not a scoop, social networks copiously copy each other. The concept of “story” popularized by Snapchat is now put forward by almost all of these applications such as Instagram or the pioneer Facebook. This time it’s Twitter trying to take over a feature from Instagram. We recently learned that some applications will charge for some features. Indeed, you will no doubt have noticed that more and more publications are made on two accounts at the same time. This practice has already been done for more than a year on Instagram. That idea, Twitter wants to be able to apply it to its famous 140 characters.
This Thursday, July 7, 2022, a handful of privileged people were able to preview this possibility for a limited time. Thus, mobile application developers have signed the first collaborative tweets of the history of the blue bird platform. “Twitter’s new feature, CoTweet, is rolling out”, wrote the developer. These tweets are posted with both names and appear on the accounts of both authors. Twitter said about this option: “We are testing CoTweets for a limited time, to learn how users and brands can use this device to grow their audience and reach new audiences, and strengthen their collaboration with other accounts”.
Internet users are puzzled
Will this brand new feature change the lives of Twitter fanatics? If users are to be believed, not really. This option even appears as very gimmicky. A tweeter said: “It’s cool, but the only function we really expected was correction”. Would Internet users allow themselves to judge a little too quickly? Possible when you know that supply creates demand, isn’t it? Users might end up completely adopting this new way of tweeting! Where is the usefulness of such a practice? This function could do business for brands. They could thus collaborate with influencers by attracting greater visibility. From now on, it remains to be seen when this option will be available for all Twitter users. We will then be able to judge whether it is useful or not. This is a case to follow!
