A new gourmet market will see the light of day in Hyères

It is nicknamed the hollow tooth of the Avenue des Îles d’Or.

The two buildings stricken with danger where you can still see the sign of the chocolate maker Dominique or the Italian Café finally bear their nickname well.

In a little over a year and a half, once major works have been completed, they will indeed host a… gourmet hall of some 800m2 for the pleasure of the mouth.

With the mission of requalifying and revitalizing the city center commercially, Var Aménagement Développement had launched a call for projects for this site. “We tried to find the most qualitative activities possible”emphasizes Alain Laroche, Urban Renovation Project Manager Hyères heart of the city.

Avoid the competition

Eight candidates applied and it was Ingeprim (and the draft mixed-use building) that was selected. Hervé Rosselo will be the architect. “It will be a building with a very contemporary architecture, a new building, with a double skin on the facade above the concrete structure. There will be plays of light and shadow. At the back, a tropézienne, a canopy, trees…”, explains Franck Menard, CEO of Ingeprim. On the floors, offices and homes.

On the ground floor, a gourmet hall where world cuisine will be honoured, as well as local producers and design, culture… “The idea is a walk around cuisines of the world. There will be eight food stalls”which will not come “not compete with what already exists: the objective is to create synergy”, says Alain Laroche.

“The former chocolate maker, a scaler, a truffle bar, an Indian”cites, pell-mell, Jean-Pierre Giran as examples. “Things you can’t find nearby. It’s a fashionable concept. It has the major advantage of being in the city center, I believe in that a lot. The goal is for people to go there without know why they go there. That they walk around, that there are places to sit. With the former local SFR (see below)these are two locomotives that are settling in, it is very important for the municipality”.

Delivery of the halls is scheduled for late 2024, early 2025.
