A new episode of fine particle air pollution in Nord-Isère and the Rhône basin

Fragile people should avoid going out in the afternoon in Nord-Isère and in the Rhône basin because the air is once again polluted with fine particles. The Isère prefecture is activating the level of information-recommendation in the face of this episode of pollution. The objective is to “protect the population from the effects of the pollution peak” and of “reduce the sources of polluting emissions.”

For the sensitive and vulnerable peoplethe prefecture recommends:

  • Get away from major highways at peak times
  • Keep children away from car pollution
  • Limit outings during the afternoon (1 p.m. to 8 p.m.)
  • Limit physical activities and intense sports (including competitions) in the open air, those indoors can be maintained
  • In case of symptoms or concerns, seek advice from your pharmacist or doctor.

It also lists several tips for road users :

  • Use if possible less polluting means of transport : bicycle, public transport, carpooling, etc. For companies, adapting working hours, facilitating telework
  • Refrain from driving a vehicle with a standard less than or equal to EURO 3 and/or whose registration date is prior to January 1, 2006 (except for vehicles of general interest referred to in article R 311-1 of the of the road)
  • Avoid aggressive driving; maintain your vehicle regularly
  • Lower your speed by 20 km/h on lanes for which the maximum authorized speed is greater than or equal to 90 km/h
  • Lower your speed to 70 km/h on lanes for which the maximum authorized speed is equal to 80 km/h

It is also recommended not to use non-electric tools to mow or trim the hedge and not to use products such as white spirit or decorative varnishes if you are carrying out maintenance work. he is also forbidden to burn rubbish.
