An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5 on the Richter scale was recorded in the Mediterranean Gulf of Iskenderun, next to the town of Payas in Hatay County, southern Turkey.

According to the information received from the Directorate for Emergencies and Combating Natural Disasters at the Ankara Presidency (AFAD), the earthquake registered last night at 23:49 (22:49 Bulgarian time) was at a depth of 5.39 km. The earthquake caused panic in the area, as many citizens spent the night outdoors despite the cold weather.
A person in the Karakami district of Payas was injured. He panicked after not being able to get out of the house through a door. The man bruised his limbs while jumping from the balcony during the earthquake.
After the first intervention of the 112 emergency teams called to the scene, the victim was transferred by ambulance to a state hospital and was given emergency medical care.
AFAD President Yunus Sezer said there were no reports of casualties. AFAD teams began searching the area for new collapsed buildings and damage.
The Kandili Seismic Observatory, in Istanbul, announced that the magnitude of the earthquake was 4.7 on the Richter scale.
The death toll from the devastating earthquakes that struck Turkey a month ago has risen to 45,968announced the Minister of Internal Affairs of the country.

On February 6, earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.7 and 7.6 hit 11 Turkish provinces – Adana, Adiyaman, Diyarbakir, Elazig, Hatay, Gaziantep, Kahramanmaras, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniye and Sanliurfa.
More than 13 million people in Turkey have been affected by the earthquakes, which also hit Syria.
Soylu announced that the region had been rocked by more than 13,000 aftershocks since the disaster.
