A new drug for Coronavirus … what is it? Who produces it?

A study conducted by the Italian pharmacologist Annalisa Chiossolo revealed the reason for the higher rate of corona virus infection among men than for women, and the reason for the low infection rate among pregnant women.

Chiossulo told the Jerusalem Post that the Corona virus damages hemoglobin in the blood, which weakens the ability of red blood cells to transport oxygen throughout the body, damaging the lungs and resulting in shortness of breath.

And if experts confirm the authenticity of the Italian scientist’s thesis, she will answer many outstanding questions about the virus and help discover an effective treatment for it.

Regarding the mechanism of the virus, the Italian scientist emphasized in her thesis that Corona needs porphyrins present in the hemoglobin of the blood, in order to survive and multiply, so it attacks hemoglobin, which is a protein that carries oxygen in the blood, which leads to hypoxia in the body and shortness of breath.

“The lung cells become a site of the cytokine cascade, which is a massive immune response to the human body when pneumonia occurs, and hemoglobin deficiency is a sign of this inflammation,” she said.

She noted that the percentage of hemoglobin in men is higher than in women, and it is less in children and pregnant women due to the need for iron, which explains the high incidence among men, especially with serious symptoms such as pneumonia, to increase hemoglobin that the virus feeds in men.

She stated that this also explains the high incidence of elderly or people with diabetes due to increased hemoglobin in their blood.

Chiossulo confirmed that the drug hydroxychlorine, which is used in the treatment of malaria, is an effective drug in treating the Corona virus, as it helps prevent the virus from being associated with blood hemoglobin.

For her part, Dr. Giuseppe Ippoleto, scientific director of the Lazaro Spalanzani National Institute for Infectious Diseases in Rome, described the thesis of Chiusolo as “suggestive” and called for the necessity of exploring and researching it.

But Dr. Amiram Goldblum, head of the Institute for Molecular Modeling at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, said that among the approximately 8,500 papers submitted about the virus in recent months, no one mentioned the proteins, adding: “Low oxygen pressure in severe cases of Covid-19 patients.” , Due to the blockage of the lung cells, which turns them into more rigid and fibrous entities. “

He said: “If the virus consumes hemoglobin porphyrin, then the first effect should be anemia that affects oxygen but leads to significant impairment and can be easily measured.” He stressed that he had not heard any problems about low hemoglobin in Covid-19 patients.
