A new diocesan director of Catholic education has been appointed by Bishop Guy de Kerimel. This is Bénédicte Dubus. She took up her post on March 1. Its mission: to oversee all the establishments of the diocese of Grenoble-Vienne, which has 32,800 students and 2,600 teachers.
Bénédicte Dubus thus replaces Jean-Romain Plaige. As the diocese specifies in a press release, “by mutual agreement, we have decided to end his mission on February 28, 2021. [Mgr de Kerimel] expresses its gratitude to him for the mission accomplished with perseverance and loyalty since September 2008. ”
A few months earlier, in the spring of 2020, a collective was formed. Baptized “Truth, justice and dignity”, it “denounced very worrying dysfunctions in the management” of Jean-Romain Plaige. Composed of officials, former officials and employees of Catholic education, that is to say about thirty people, this collective had met the bishop of the diocese of Grenoble and Vienne in June, in order to ask him for “the final departure” of the diocesan director. .

A departure initially scheduled for 2021
Jean-Romain Plaige replied in our columns on August 20, 2020: “I’m right in my boots, I do my job. “
The diocese assures us: there is no link between the collective’s request and the departure of Mr. Plaige in February. He was to leave his post in 2021 anyway.
Despite everything, for the collective, the arrival of Bénédicte Dubus “constitutes a positive step forward for Catholic education in Isère, to which he is attached”.
