The activists of the Jardin de l’Engrenage and their supporters had an appointment at Place du Théâtre in Dijon at 2 p.m. They mingled with the intermittents who occupy the theater and who continue to mobilize against the reform of unemployment insurance.
After some speeches, the demonstrators then headed for the gardens of the Gear, with the slogan “no violence”. But, in front of an impressive police cordon, they had to turn around near the premises of Ghitti, the company that will build the future building.

The demonstrators then separated, around 3 p.m. They are still waiting for a response to the open letter that they sent to the town hall of Dijon and in which they propose an alternative solution which would avoid a complete concreteization (2/3 less housing) and allow a more important greening.
“We hope for a change in the local urban plan. It is absolutely essential that we preserve places where we can, tomorrow, in the metropolis, do intensive agriculture and market gardening. “
They decided to continue their action in other forms. It will begin Sunday, April 24 with a sale of plants that were saved from the gardens of the Gear. It will take place on site from 3 p.m.
“The hope that we have today, despite the fact that the earth has been removed from the gardens of the Gear, is that the Dijonnaises and the Dijonnais themselves start planting, sowing at home, on their balcony, near their home. ”
At the beginning of the week, Tuesday April 20, around 10 people were evacuated by the police for having tried to obstruct the construction work of a building. The Gardens of the Gear located on avenue de Langres have been the subject of a struggle for almost 2 years between a citizen collective and the town hall of Dijon, which wants to build on the site a real estate complex of 307 housing units and shared gardens.
