A new crew chief for Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

Mike Kelley has just been named Ricky Stenhouse Jr.’s new crew chief in the NASCAR Cup Series. Kelley, who previously worked with JTG Daugherty Racing as head of aerodynamics, will therefore be the new crew chief on the team’s #47 Chevrolet in 2023.

Kelley replaces Brian Pattie, who was just named crew chief of the #51 Kyle Busch Motorsports Truck Series team.

“We respect Brian and what he has done for the company, and wish him the best. We have learned a lot together and I believe that previous successes and failures give us the knowledge we need to be competitive and deliver the results to our partners next season. »

Since the 2020 season, Kelley has worked alongside Pattie and Stenhouse at JTG Daugherty. She has a rich history with Stenhouse, including serving as crew chief in 2014 when the two worked for what is now Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing.

Before that, Kelley won back-to-back championships (2011-2012) in NASCAR Xfinity as crew chief to Stenhouse, formerly at Roush. The two men won eight races together.

“Brian and I achieved a lot together and won two cup races and that’s not easy in this sport. I am grateful for our friendship and wish him well in his endeavors. Mike, the team and I will continue our preparations during this off-season and be ready for the new year.
