In the area of the Moscow district of Izmailovo, on the site of the demolished Cherkizovsky market, also known as Cherkizon, new construction has begun. Photos published on Saturday 12 September at Telegram-channel “Moscow News”.
The pictures show the area of the former market, construction equipment and many concrete slabs on the ground.
According to the agency Interfax, at this place, in Izmailovsky passage, four residential apartment buildings will be built. The head of the Moscow Construction Department Rafik Zagrutdinov told about it. He noted that this housing is intended for citizens, whose houses have come under the renovation program.
The Cherkizovsky market has been located in the east of Moscow since the 1990s. It employed, according to the estimates of the Federation of Migrants of Russia, more than one hundred thousand people, 60 thousand of whom are visitors from the PRC. On August 21, 2006, an explosion occurred in one of the market sectors. As a result, 14 people died, more than 60 were injured. After numerous attempts by the Moscow authorities to stop trading on the market in 2009, Cherkizon was closed.
