A new concert program ‘The Most Beautiful Russian Romances’ will be performed in the series ‘Personally’

The organizers of the concert call Russian romance one of the pearls of Russian culture. Their full-blooded, aching sound is called a reflection of the Russian soul. The concert program is created especially for “Big Amber” and will be offered to listeners for the first time. In it, the artists will perform both the famous lyrical romances of Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky, known to the listeners, as well as introduce the concert visitors to the development of the romance genre in Russian music literature to the present day.

“The concert will take place in two parts, each part drawing the line between classical and contemporary. The first part will feature Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky and Glinka. Mikhail Chulpayev has excellently proven himself as a solo artist at the Latvian National Opera for several seasons. Already his debut as Trufaldino in Sergei Prokofiev’s opera “Love on Three Oranges” in 2013 aroused the enthusiasm of both viewers and critics. In the following years, Mikhail Chulpayev proved himself both vocally and actorically in a diverse repertoire. This season, Mikhail is making two debuts on the LNOB stage in Giuseppe Verdi’s operas – the soloist will play Alfred in “Traviata” and Gabrielo Adoro in “Simon Bokanegra”. Mikhail Chulpayev holds a master’s degree from the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, has participated in master classes by Axel Everart, Nelli Mirichoji and other vocalists, as well as improved his skills at the opera houses in the Netherlands and the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Mikhail Chulpayev was nominated for the “Grand Music Prize 2015” in the category “Young Artist”, but in 2017 he won the LNO Foundation’s Annual Award in the category Best Opera Soloist.

Pianist Mārtiņš Zilberts has been the chief soloist of the Latvian National Opera and Ballet since 2008. Last season, she was nominated for the highest national award – the “Grand Music Prize 2019” in the category for “Outstanding Work in a Chamber Ensemble”, while in 2018 she received the Latvian National Opera Foundation’s award for “Outstanding Performance during the Year”. Mārtiņš Zilberts collaborates and performs with the world’s and Latvia’s most outstanding opera singers – Liene Kinči, Inga Kalns, Aleksandrs Antonins, Egils Siliņš, etc. Concert life, performing as a soloist with an orchestra or chamber music genre, has Russia and Canada.

The concert will take place in two parts, duration: about 1 hour 30 minutes. During the concert, distance and personalized seating are provided in the Great Hall. Before and after the concert, as well as in the meantime, while staying in the public area of ​​the concert hall, visitors are invited to wear face masks and observe the distance.
