The child is admitted to the pediatric hospital in Iasi.
The Bacău Directorate of Public Health informed the Ministry of Health and the National Center for the Surveillance and Control of Communicable Diseases of the National Institute of Public Health, according to the order of the Minister of Health for the daily reporting of cases of severe diarrheal disease and hemolytic uremic syndrome, related to the occurrence of a case of hemolytic uremic syndrome at the Bacău County Hospital, the child was subsequently transferred to the Iasi Children’s Hospital.
It is a 1-year-old child from the city of Bacău, hospitalized on February 19 at the Bacău County Emergency Hospital and transferred the same day to the Iași Children’s Hospital in the nephrology ward.
The child presented with an acute diarrheal disease with onset on February 4, for which he received antibiotic treatment in an outpatient setting for 3 days with favorable evolution, but with worsening of health conditions on February 18. The Bacău Public Health Department initiated the epidemiological investigation, including a food investigation. The child arrived on Friday evening at the pediatric hospital in Iași, where samples will be collected to clearly establish the cause of the syndrome.
