The four buildings constructed in the business zone at the entrance to Saint-Contest (Calvados), near the Caen Chamber of Commerce and Industry, were intended to accommodate offices and small businesses. The project was designed with 300 underground parking spaces. At the end of December 2018, the municipality of Saint-Contest then granted the building permit to the real estate developer Sedelka. Construction begins in February 2020.
E2SE keeps growing
During the summer of 2021, information arrives at the town hall on the new premises which would ultimately constitute a campus that can accommodate up to 2,500 students. However, the Espace Entreprises is saturated in terms of traffic and parking. Jean-Marc Philippe, the mayor of Saint-Contest, estimates as follows: “The parking spaces will not be sufficient. The insecurity is permanent, the garbage trucks cannot pass. It will not be livable for the companies present. No one will be able to enter or leave.
So the mayor, supported by all the elected officials, decided not to sign the amending building permit submitted by the training organization E2SE (Ecole Supérieure des Services aux Entreprises) whose campus is located next to the bird hill in Caen.
The Business School, which today welcomes 2,500 and is experiencing rapid growth, needs premises. But in Saint-Contest: “We will not let this project happen, I want it to be clear”, concludes the mayor. In the meantime, the file is under investigation within the relevant departments of Caen la mer.
