A new calamitous ranking for Saint-Étienne

A study by the Ministry of the Interior reveals that Saint-Étienne is the third city in France in the negative ranking of cities in which insecurity in urban transport is progressing. Saint-Étienne is on the rise, as violence in Saint-Étienne public transport increased by 30% between 2020 and 2021.

An increase that puts the city behind Villeurbanne and Lyon with 540 victims for Saint-Étienne. The national increase is on average 4%. In the ranking of large cities, Saint-Étienne occupies an unflattering 19th place. Sexual violence is on the rise.

On the SNCF side, the region has doubled the number of traffic police. STAS recorded 54 attacks on passengers and 16 on agents. The mayor of Saint-Étienne, Gaël Perdriau, did not comment on these results on social networks.
