A new accident at a level crossing this Friday morning on the Paris line

The causes of delays are numerous enough on the Paris – Clermont line without motorists adding to them. But the law of the series struck, Wednesday evening in Tracy sur Loire and this Friday morning at the height of Thuret, a little after Riom. The first Clermont – Paris, which left at 5:27 a.m., hit a car at a level crossing around 5:45 a.m. Traffic between Riom and Vichy was immediately cut off and the next train to Paris (the non-stop one leaving at 5:52 a.m.) did not leave Clermont station. Ditto for the first Paris – Clermont (departure 6:57 am) which has been cancelled. The damaged train was to be cleared around 10 a.m. The passengers who were on board were repatriated by bus to Clermont.

The TER Riom-Vichy concerned

This accident mainly affects the TER trains which circulate between the stations of Riom and Vichy, during the morning rush hour. Many trains have been removed. Some TER, which circulate with diesel engines, are diverted by the non-electrified line between Saint-Germain-des-Fossés and Riom, via Gannat. They obviously do not serve the Vichy station and the timetables are no longer systematically respected.

Buses have been ordered to serve Vichy station. A recovery team is on site to check the condition of the train and carry out the necessary repairs. No precise time yet for a resumption of traffic, the SNCF just announces that it will be done first in the direction Clermont – Vichy. A problem north of Clermont which causes a number of cancellations and delays on the TER trains heading south, towards Vic le Comte.

SNCF files a complaint

This is the second accident that occurs in two days on this line, “due to non-compliance with the highway code” according to SNCF. On Wednesday evening, a Paris-Clermont train hit a car on a level crossing in Tracy-sur-Loire, in Nièvre. The railway company announces that it will file a complaint.
