Doctor and TV presenter Elena Malysheva gave advice to those who lost their sense of smell after being ill with coronavirus. The guest of the next edition of the “Health” program was the fashion historian and host of the “Fashionable Sentence” program Alexander Vasiliev, who had just faced such a problem.
Vasiliev said that after the illness, his sense of smell returned, but not completely. Previously, he was much more susceptible to perfume and other scents that no longer seem so vibrant.
As Elena Malysheva explained, the olfactory nerves are responsible for the sensitivity to smells. The course of the disease does not affect the nerve endings, but edema forms around them.
– The nerve endings themselves do not suffer, the tissue around them suffers. Two simple tips: flush [нос] any solutions and use for some time hormonal sprays in the nose to remove the swelling and so that smells return again, – said the TV presenter.
