At the opening of the symposium, Xi Jinping delivered a speech in which he stated that the path of finance development, taking into account the country’s peculiarities, meets objective regularities and is different from Western models. China should continue on this path and perfect it in practice.
Over the past two decades, China has actively explored rules for the development of its finances, promoted innovative practices, ideas and mechanisms, thanks to which it has gradually shaped its own path in this field, Xi Jinping stressed.
In his speech, the Chinese leader stressed that the country’s financial strength must be based on a solid economic foundation, possess sufficient scientific and technological power, as well as a number of key elements such as a strong currency, a strong central bank, strong financial institutions, be serious international financial center, to have a system of strict financial supervision and highly qualified and prepared personnel. It is necessary to accelerate the construction of a modern financial system with Chinese characteristics, improve the regulatory system, and establish a diversified and professional system for providing financial products and services. Efforts should be made to prevent and overcome financial risks, especially systemic risks, Xi Jinping said.
The seminar was attended by members of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee Cai Qi, Zhao Luji, Wang Huning, Ding Xuexiang and Li Xi, Vice Chairman Han Zheng and other representatives of the Chinese state and party leadership.
