The director general of health at the supervisory ministry announced this Saturday during a press briefing that the ministry’s virology services have discovered a new strain of Covid in two patients. A 17-year-old student at Bardo and an elderly man at La Marsa.
He added that it is a Tunisian mutant virus that has nothing to do with the variants found in Great Britain, South Africa or Brazil.
The director general assured that the young man affected by this strain is doing well and that he has not infected members of his family. While the elderly man in La Marsa is in critical condition because he is a carrier of several chronic decompensated diseases.
